Hello! My name is Aubrey Murri. I am currently a senior at the University of Nevada, Reno. I am studying Business Management with a minor in Communication Studies. I found my way to this major because I realized at a young age how much I loved interacting with people. From there, I realized that customer service might be the right path for me as I grew older. I have had the opportunity to work at places from big retail stores, a doctors office, and even for the Walt Disney Company. Through my adventures in these work areas, I have been able to solidify my passion for helping others through work in customer service, regardless of the area of work.
During the Fall of 2014, I was a participant of the Disney College Program at Walt Disney World. The Disney College Program is an opportunity to live and work at either Walt Disney World in Florida or Disneyland in California. This program allows you to build your networking skills, meet people from all over the world, and even take classes that can count toward college credit. While there, I worked in the role of merchandise in Adventureland in Magic Kingdom. I was lucky enough to have the experience of working at the Pirates of the Caribbean merchandise shop, the shops in Adventureland, and the Glow operation which sold light up toys at night around the park. I met so many people and learned more about myself during this internship. I can easily say, as cliche as it is, that the Disney College Program changed my life. That is why I decided to write a blog about how to traverse the Disney College Program for anyone who might be interested. As Peter Pan said, “all it takes is a little faith, trust, and pixie dust” to make your dreams come true.
